Partnering Up For a Good Cause (10 Sep 2010)

A pair of Chief Executives will be shaking their collection buckets together this morning as part of the Wellington Free Ambulance annual street appeal.

Wellington Free Ambulance (WFA) CEO Alan O’Beirne and PSIS’s chief executive Dr Girol Karacaoglu, who this week signed a charity partnership agreement, will be on the streets this Friday to help raise vital funds towards New Zealand’s only free ambulance service.

Under this agreement PSIS has pledged its support to help WFA raise funds through donations, advertising, in-branch donation boxes throughout the Greater Wellington region, and by helping with the street appeal taking place this week.

“We’re absolutely delighted to officially form a partnership with WFA. They’re a fantastic organization that benefits all Wellingtonians. They’re heavily reliant on the support of the local community and without this support their services wouldn’t remain free,” says Dr Karacaoglu.

Mr O’Beirne is grateful for the ongoing support provided by both PSIS and the greater Wellington community.

“PSIS shares our core values of being hard-working, community-focused and not profit-driven. The staff at PSIS are really passionate about supporting us and their ideals are a perfect fit with our organisation” says Alan.

“It’s only thanks to support from organisations like PSIS, as well as the wider community, that we can proudly remain New Zealand’s only free ambulance service”.

This is the second year that PSIS has supported the WFA, and through their recent Local Supporter campaign the PSIS branches in the Greater Wellington region made a donation to WFA.

Each year Wellington Free Ambulance holds a street appeal throughout Wellington, generating much-needed funds for the service to make up the shortfall in Government funding.  The service seeks to fundraise over $3 million each year, which in turn allows them to continue assisting over 50,000 people annually as the sole emergency ambulance service for the people of greater Wellington.
