Wellington Free Ambulance expands its service to the Wairarapa (23 Dec 2011)

Wellington Free Ambulance (WFA) has been selected as the preferred provider of ambulance services in Wairarapa, expanding its operation to the greater wellington region.

WFA Acting Chief Executive, Andy Long, said: “WFA has an enviable track record as an innovative and forward thinking service provider and that is an approach we are delighted to now bring to Wairarapa.

“Our focus will be on assessing the needs of the region’s communities and ensuring that we deliver the services that will meet their needs.”

We will provide our high quality free-to-the-patient ambulance service through a collaborative healthcare approach resulting in improved services for both residents and the DHB,” added Mr Long.

“WFA is no stranger to the Wairarapa, having worked with the DHB ambulance staff and the community for a number of years.”

WFA and Wairarapa DHB will work together to complete a smooth transition of services from the 1 March 2012.

The announcement comes following a tender process conducted by the under the National Ambulance Sector Office (NASO) and Wairarapa District Health Board (DHB).
