Summer is a lovely time with lots of people making the most of our beautiful region. We care about you, and want you to have a great time, so we’ve put together a few tips to help you stay safe and have fun. As much as we’d love to see you…the last thing you need is an unplanned visit from us.
- Take care in the sun – the beautiful sun has a sting in its tail so remember to ‘slip, slop, slap’. Wear your sunglasses, drink plenty of water and find some shade to avoid overheating.
- Out in the wilderness –have a plan, know your limits, and tell people where you’re going. Beware of the weather, take appropriate equipment and supplies with you. If you have a personal locator beacon be sure to have it on you.
- On the road – plan your trip, allow plenty of time for the journey and take regular breaks. Watch speeds and following distances and drive to the conditions. It’s a good idea to switch cell-phones off.
- Stay well – everyone will treat themselves over the festive period. But remember to go easy, keep up with regular exercise, balanced and healthy meals and careful not to overindulge with alcohol.
- Enjoying the waves – take care and always keep a watchful eye on the kids. If you’re heading to the beach be aware of tides and rips, and only swim between the flags.
- Be prepared – check out what emergency services are operating in your area, and have all your normal medications sorted and prescriptions picked up ahead of the holidays.
If you think you need medical help, never hesitate to call 111.
Happy holidays from all of us!
