Our response to COVID-19

Whilst it’s a very unsettling time in Aotearoa at the moment, Wellington Free Ambulance remain here for all our communities across Wellington and Wairarapa.

The impacts of COVID-19 are far reaching, with concerns for family, work and our wider community. It’s hard to understand the ongoing impact this will have, but looking after yourself and your family is our priority. Whilst we understand it’s worrying, we want to ensure you that we are taking every effort to keep you safe and supported.

Our organisation continues to operate in the same way you’re familiar with, with just a few changes to ensure we keep our patients, staff and community safe.

When you call 111 and ask for an ambulance you’ll now be asked some additional questions regarding recent travel and flu like symptoms. We understand when you call us it can be stressful, but do bear with us as we ask these precautionary questions to ensure everyone’s safety.

You’ll also start to see our paramedics in face masks and gloves when responding to jobs, please don’t be alarmed. We want to make sure we protect our staff and community.

As we share information going forward, we want to ensure we recognise our communities concerns, provide timely information about any changes to our service and keep you informed with advice and care on looking after yourself and each other.

Care and compassion are fundamental to how we work, and this will always continue.

Stay safe, keep informed and act with kindness.

For more information on COVID-19, visit the Ministry of Health’s website.

Take care Wellington and Wairarapa.
