‹ What we do

Central Communications Centre

Whenever someone calls 111 in the central New Zealand Region (from Turangi down to Wellington), it is answered by the Central Emergency Ambulance Communications Centre based at Wellington Free Ambulance Headquarters in Wellington.

If all of our call takers are busy the call will redirect into the national queue and may be answered in our Auckland or Christchurch centres.

Read more about what happens when you call the Central Emergency Communications Centre and the questions we ask.

The Central Communications Centre (Central Comms) is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days aweek, 365 days a year by our emergency medical dispatchers. Central Comms is a joint venture company between St John New Zealand and Wellington Free Ambulance.
