Still Free After 80 Years

Since 1927, Wellington Free Ambulance, New Zealand’s only free metropolitan ambulance service, has been the sole emergency ambulance provider for the people of greater Wellington.

An Incorporated Society run by its own board of management, WFA is an essential service provider for the community - committed to providing high quality clinical care in emergency situations, pre-hospital care and transport services.

Each year we assist more than 40,000 people in the greater Wellington region - that's about 1 in every 10 people living in this area that need our help annually.
