On the road and here for you this Christmas

We just want to thank all our staff who are working this Christmas; thank you for being the ones looking after our region and keeping us safe.

Paramedics Eli and Quinn.

Of those on the road today are Paramedic couple, Eli and Quinn.

Although they’re working, Eli says that it’s still a very jolly time of year within Wellington Free Ambulance and across the other emergency services, amongst hospital staff, and the patients and their families who they meet.

“Emergencies unfortunately still happen during the festive season and as we are 24/7, it’s our job to be here for those who need our help,” Eli says.

“It’s is a privilege to be here for our community. I feel there is a lot of appreciation for emergency services and healthcare at this time of the year as we sacrifice our time with our families to support the community,” Quinn says.

Eli says a big part of Christmas normally revolves family and friends back home in Australia – but as they’re working and the borders are closed, Christmas will look a little different this year.

“This year we’re trading in the Mimosa's for strong coffee. We’ll miss out on the big breakfast, seafood lunch and Quinn's mum’s potato salad but we’ll be making new traditions with our Wellington Free family,” Eli says.

“This year we’re also playing secret Santa with our team; this is a fun part of the day and a way to celebrate Christmas while working.”

Eli and Quinn will get to celebrate Christmas once their day shift comes to an end; the plan is to have Christmas dinner together and most likely chat to their friends and family back home.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Wellington Free Ambulance!
