L-R: Sarah, Katie and Kim

Kim is Head of Health, Safety and Wellness...

... and describes her role as "hovering above the organisation and assessing if we have the systems and process that are effective and safe for our people.  Then deep diving to understand why something isn’t working as expected or if we can improve how we do a certain task. "

Her top highlight with Wellington Free so far is "health and safety is a people-centric profession, so being so close to the work of Wellington Free and having the opportunity to talk with those who do that work is priceless.  A highlight so far was sitting alongside the call takers for a few shifts and hearing how our work starts after that 111 call.  And a recent highlight was being an Area Manager for my first Onesie collection day.  Our volunteers are wonderful with hearts of gold and amazing stories to share.  I was a richer person for spending time with them."

Outside of work, you'll find her "enjoying the different walking tracks around Wellington and finding any excuse for a visit to a café with those nearest and dearest to me."

Katie is our Health, Safety and Wellness Advisor...

... and describes her role as "I review and ensure policies and procedures meet good practice working standards, and I'm a source of information on health, safety and wellness related matters. I am the key contact for day-to-day queries, and I support Kim in her role to ensure WFA meet its duty of care under the Health and Safety work act."

Her top highlight with Wellington Free so far is "Going out on observation with the Emergency Ambulance Service and Patient Transfer Service. I have never been in an ambulance before and going under lights to a patient at 7am was a thrill I am happy to experience only once! But I was grateful to be able to experience the amazing work our frontline staff does and be a part of saving people’s lives."

Sarah is our Health, Safety and Wellness Coordinator...

... and describes her role as "coordinating Wellington Free’s Health, Safety and Wellness programme, to ensure all goals and initiatives we set out to achieve are getting done. I also support Kim and Katie in their mahi to make sure the supports and services we manage after are working for our staff.”

Her top highlight with Wellington Free so far is "travelling to each ambulance station around the region. It gave me a real insight into the day-to-day work our paramedics do and a deeper appreciation for them. Also having the opportunity to talk to some of our paramedics and call centre staff and get to know them has been invaluable.”

Outside of work, you'll find her "either tending to my indoor plants, playing video games, going on a hikoi or catching up with my friends over a kawhe. I also go to a few of the craft and botanist markets around Wellington. It’s where I buy all my plant earrings!"
