Noah and Keanu’s story – passing it forward

When twins Noah and Keanu recently celebrated their 10th birthday, rather than presents from friends and whānau, they asked for donations to Wellington Free Ambulance. Here their mum explains why they decided to support us on their birthday.

Mum’s pregnancy with the twins was classed as high-risk, so she was scheduled for a planned c-section. However, Noah and Keanu just couldn't wait to come out and decided to come earlier than expected!

The family’s midwife wanted to ensure they all got to the hospital safely with medical help, so called an ambulance.

Mum reflects that “while it was a very exciting time for us, it was also very scary”. However, the two Wellington Free “paramedics were so friendly and supportive when they arrived, and really took care of all of us during the ride. They were absolutely amazing!”

As well as choosing to donate to us because we helped with the twins’ safe arrival into the world back in 2014, both Noah and Keanu have each had a ride to Wellington Hospital in a Wellington Free Ambulance when they were much younger.

Mum says that Noah and Keanu “like the idea that their donation can help keep Wellington Free Ambulance running for other kids and people that need their help”.

Noah and Keanu’s friends and whānau raised $775 for us and we’re so thankful for their generosity and Noah and Keanu’s decision to support us on their birthday – ka pai both, thank you for thinking of us and passing the gift forward.
