Social Media Community Guidelines

These guidelines are in place to help create a safe environment on official Wellington Free Ambulance digital and social media channels.

Wellington Free Ambulance uses a range of social media networks to provide information of public interest and to engage with our community. These community guidelines are applicable to all social media networks that we use.

We encourage contributions and community discussion and welcome constructive feedback and differing opinions; however please ensure your comments are relevant and respectful. Wellington Free Ambulance reserves the right to determine what constitutes inappropriate content, and to ban users and remove any posts/comments which are in breach of Facebook’s Community Standards or which violate the Wellington Free Ambulance community guidelines below:

  • Be respectful.

  • Please use common courtesy and do not make comments that contain offensive, profane, defamatory, threatening language or which are otherwise inappropriate.

  • Stay on topic. Only make comments that are relevant to the topic or theme of the post. If you disagree with our view on something and decide to make that point every time we post, your comments will be considered spam and you may be banned from the page.

  • Protect your own and others’ privacy. Never post comments containing personal, identifying or containing confidential information such as account details or other personal information including address, telephone number, email, passwords, etc.

We may delete posts or comments which are:

  • Racist, sexist, homophobic or other forms of hate-speech

  • Potentially defamatory

  • Contain confidential information (eg contact details, personal or health information)

  • Misinformation

  • Spam and advertising

  • Using offensive language, abuse or threats

  • Off-topic or irrelevant information to the thread of conversation

  • Nudity, pornography, violence or child abuse

  • Content that is illegal, gives instructions for illegal activity or advocates illegal activities

As our patient, and under the Health and Disability Commissioner’s Code of Rights, you have the right to:

  • Be treated with respect
  • Be fully informed
  • Freedom from discrimination, coercion, harassment and exploitation
  • dignity and independence
  • Services of an appropriate standard
  • Effective communication
  • Be fully informed
  • Make an informed choice and give informed consent
  • Support
  • Respect of teaching or research
  • Complain

If we don’t respect these, let us know and we’ll do everything we can to put it right.


Support in the process

If you need support or help with making a complaint, you can contact the office of the Health and Disability Commissioner and ask for an advocate.
