Where can I buy a Wellington Free Ambulance first aid kit?
These paramedic-designed first aid kits are available exclusively online; you won’t find them in retail stores. Visit www.wfa.org.nz/firstaidkits to see the range available. Buy online and your order will be delivered by courier to the address of your choice.
Can I be sure that the contents are quality?
Yes! The team of paramedics who designed these kits have selected high quality products from a reputable medical supplier – Yes Med. Time has been spent including what you need and leaving out things you don’t which can often be in other mass-produced kits.
Do you sell individual products to top up the first aid kits?
Not at this stage, but that will be the next step in our first aid kit activity. We’ve provided a good number of every item in the kit, and you can top up any frequently used items like plasters from your local pharmacy or supermarket when needed. All the perishable products have a long lifespan, but it’s important to check expiry dates regularly.
How are these first aid kits helping Wellington Free Ambulance?
All proceeds from the sale of our first aid kits come to us. So, when you buy a first aid kit from Wellington Free Ambulance, you’re not only getting a great quality paramedic designed kit, you’re also helping to keep emergency ambulance services free of charge in Greater Wellington and Wairarapa.
Why has Wellington Free Ambulance started selling first aid kits?
We’re asked on a regular basis if we sell first aid kits, so we decided to test the market and release a specially designed range of kits for use at home, office, to keep in the car or bach or boat. We’re looking at an initial 12-month trial from 1 July 2026 with limited stock, following evaluation we will decide the future direction of the kits.
Who designed the first aid kits?
A team of paramedics from Wellington Free Ambulance spent time putting together the kits contents, thinking about what you need to have on hand for a range of common accidents that can happen virtually anywhere.
Who are the first aid kits for?
Anyone who wants to have peace of mind that they have what they need on hand when accidents happen. These kits are designed to cover a range of incidents – cuts, scrapes, sprains and breaks. It’s your go-to for a range of situations.
How do I decide which first aid kit I need?
This largely depends on where you’ll be keeping your first aid kit. The small 1–5-person kit is good for the car – compact and easily accessible when you’re out and about. The medium 1–12-person kit is good for home or office / workplace where you might have more people around. The sports kit has been specifically designed for sports teams, sports clubs, or school sports teams and families who play a lot of sports!
What is different about the sports first aid kit and who is it for?
The sports first aid kit has been designed specifically for the types of accidents that you see regularly across a range of sports. Designed for clubs, schools, or social teams, there’s a focus on ice packs for strains, sprains and swelling, and bandages for supporting injured or broken limbs until further treatment can be sought. These are great for team kit bags; an absolute must for managing health and safety of players at any club or school sports team.
Wellington Free Ambulance is a charity – can I get a tax receipt for my first aid kit?
No, but you’ll receive a receipt for your purchase when you buy online. Even though the profits from the first aid kits go towards supporting Wellington Free Ambulance, your purchase isn’t a charitable donation, it’s a purchase of a good. In line with the Income Tax Act 2007, we’re not able to issue a donation receipt for tax rebate purposes.
Now that you’re selling first aid kits does this mean you teach first aid?
Not yet! Our community education remains focused on teaching people potentially lifesaving CPR and AED skills through The Lloyd Morrison Foundation Heartbeat CPR training programme, which is provided free of charge across the region. Find out more or book a course on our dedicated website page.
